AISTech is North America’s largest annual iron and steel technology conference and exposition. It provides a global perspective on today’s marketplace by featuring technologies from all over the world that help steelmakers to compete more effectively. The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) is a non-profit organization with 16,600 members from more than 70 countries. With 29 Technology Committees representing all facets of the iron and steel manufacturing process and 22 Local Member Chapters spread across six continents, AIST represents an incomparable network of steel knowledge and expertise.

Held on May 6th at Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus, Ohio, the exposition allowed us to have the chance to connect with visitors from many countries in different fields. After having a few very informative conversations with some of the attendees, we realized the amount of buyers from Europe and the Americas who prefer to import steel from China is on the rise, and is expected to keep growing in the next few years. Compared with suppliers from other countries, China is very rich in the iron ore resource, which is the primary raw material needed to produce steel products. For another, the production cost, consisting mainly of labour cost, inventory cost, and raw material cost, is much lower in China than in many developed countries. Both factors make China the top destination for many European and American buyers to seek bulk orders while minimizing their purchase costs.

With more than 300 million population and nearly 10 million km2 land mass, the USA is indisputably the largest market of steel products in the Western world. That is why Jiuzhou Metal has been actively seeking opportunities to take part in more local exhibitions held in the USA, in spite of the long distance.
